Three by Three: Guest Artists in Focus

QUESTION 2.    Your paintings feel meditative yet visually dense. What role does patience play in your process, and how do you sustain focus through long periods of detail work?

  • ANSWER 2.     Patience is the backbone of my journey. Each layer demands attention, reflection, and stillness, turning the act of painting into a meditative rhythm. Focus is sustained through deep engagement with the material and the story each mark tells, allowing time to reveal nuances and meaning within the dense compositions.

MEDIUM:    oil on canvas and watercolor

BIO:    Joveria Khan is a multidisciplinary artist and writer based in Quetta, Pakistan. Her paintings are emotional translations of lived experience — where colour becomes language and pain turns into fiction. She paints not for decoration but for revelation: each hue echoes struggle, hope, fear, and the fragile beauty of resilience.

Deeply reflective and rooted in the human condition, her work mirrors both the visible and the unspoken. Blending literary depth with visual storytelling, Joveria transforms her inner world into a dialogue between soul and society.

QUESTION 3.    Many viewers encounter your work as both visual art and spiritual encounter. What kind of internal response do you hope lingers after someone has spent time with one of your paintings?

  • ANSWER 3.     I hope viewers leave with a sense of quiet reflection and emotional resonance. Each painting is a dialogue of struggle, hope, and resilience, and I want that subtle tension between vulnerability and strength to linger — inviting introspection long after they’ve looked away.

QUESTION 1.    You consistently work within a 24x24-inch square format. What does that fixed scale offer you conceptually or spiritually when building such intricate, layered compositions?

  • ANSWER 1.   The fixed 24×24-inch square acts as a grounding boundary, offering balance and focus. Without a dominant direction. It becomes a contained space for discipline, repetition, and quiet emotional exploration.
