Three by Three: Guest Artists in Focus

QUESTION 2.    Choosing traditional printmaking in a digital age is a deliberate stance. What does the physical resistance of plate, ink, and paper give you that digital tools cannot?

  • ANSWER 2.     The traditional graphic medium provides me with a strong sense of presence and enables direct communication with both my artistic intentions and visual expression. Digital print lacks this vitality and, to a large extent, fails to convey the artistic concept as it is experienced during the act of creation.

QUESTION 3.    Printmaking demands planning, yet it also allows for surprise. How do you make space for unpredictability while working within such controlled processes?

  • ANSWER 3.     It is precisely this complexity and discipline required by printmaking that shapes the artistic identity of a printmaker. Each graphic print carries its own story.

QUESTION 1.    Your prints frequently evoke silence and stillness rather than overt narrative. How do you translate something as intangible as quiet into mark, pressure, and texture?

  • ANSWER 1.    I perceive and shape silence through every artistic concept, as a form of therapeutic treatment of the contemporary moment. Therefore, I believe that through the consumption—observation—of graphic prints, an adequate form of therapy is achieved, both for the individual and for society.
